Hi .. this is jyothi

To start with .. i think it makes sence to get clarity on our individual perception towards rural educational development .. like, what is and how to ..

with me, RED include providing an open school door to every child, enhancing the social (human relations), scientific (environmental), political (public infrastructural) awareness to adults. If this comes to be quantitative aspect, the qualitatve aspect comes to be the educational methodology.

I guess this community more focus on the quantitative aspects ie., on accessiblity of education to every child/ illeterate, conveyed is my idea on it and i wish the discussion to go on ..

Hi
Thanks for the thread Vasanth.

I am Santhoshkumar, born and brought-up in Coimbatore. I completed BE in Electrical Engineering from Kongu Engineering College in 2008. I am currently pursuing my PhD at Virginia Tech, USA. I also work as Graduate Research Assistant, part-time. My thanks to K.Ramesh from Gobichettipalayam, for giving me a chance to contribute, through an invite.

Jyothi has given a very good direction for our discussion. In my opinion, we should move away a little away from the conventional education system, that is in place already. The education that we have hardly helps any of us, practically. We dont use the resources that is already available, like newspapers, tv, etc. for educational purposes. I believe improving the system already at hand to make it more interesting, motivating and useful for the students, is a better option. It gives the best Return-On-Investment. Again, this is just an opinion. ;)

santhosh, i support your idea that the resources are not completely (not atleast partially) used, excluding the case of costly private schools. However, our focus is on illeterates with no scope to sit school. I think, every student should enjoy a common educational infrastructure to wash away the differences beyond rich and poor students. Well, thats quite hard and impractical to imagine where private schools reduce their fees or admit students for free and it solves all the problem, DONT think so.

In this scenario, I have an idea, if the resources (every school) in a town or in an area can be shared. I visualise in a manner where schools with Library (story books, encyclopedias, subject books), practical facilities (motivates students towards innovatory thoughts) share their resources to students with ID (only requisite is they should be going to school, ANY school around the area, based on pre-structured non- profit partnerships).

I am not sure if this is already being implemented. But, I am sure, this is not being implemented with government schools as participants. The only reason which I have seen 'lack of motivation' IN MANAGEMENT in many places (I accept that many schools are IDEAL, they shall be taken as role model) to improve the scope of knowledge in their schools.

I agree that they are many and many issues in hurdles, but, I want to explore the level of possibilities in this area. (to research on the use of sharable- resources in motivating 'integrated system of education' for equality)
and friends, i need your comments ..
